About Lede

Lede is the distribution system operator (DSO) for Vestfold and Telemark, delivering electricity to more than 218,000 customers across the region.

As electrification continues to accelerate, more customers are applying for new grid connections, increased capacity, EV chargers, heat pumps, and solar installations. Each request requires customers to understand what is needed to connect to the grid and, importantly, what the project is likely to cost.

To support a growing number of applications while improving customer experience, Lede wanted a more efficient and customer-friendly approach to managing grid connection requests.

Challenges

For many customers, the biggest uncertainty is not how to apply for a grid connection, but understanding the potential cost before committing to a project.

Whether building a new home, installing an EV charger, increasing electrical capacity, or connecting solar panels, customers need reliable information early in the process to make informed decisions.

At the same time, increasing electrification is driving higher volumes of connection requests. Lede needed a scalable solution that could simplify the application process while providing customers with greater predictability from the start.

“One of the most important benefits is giving customers an early estimate of what their grid connection project may cost. That provides a much stronger basis for planning and decision-making.”

Volue's solution: Volue Grid Connector

To address these challenges, Lede implemented Volue Grid Connector (AGC), a digital self-service solution for grid connection applications.

The solution guides customers and electricians through the application process by collecting the information required for the requested measure. Based on the information provided, customers receive a price estimate that gives an early indication of expected costs.

This helps customers assess the feasibility of their project before investing additional time and resources.

By digitizing the process, Lede has created a more efficient and scalable way to manage increasing application volumes while improving the customer experience.

Outcomes & Impact

Since implementing Grid Connector, Lede has made the grid connection process simpler and more predictable for customers.

Customers can now receive an early indication of connection costs, giving them better insight into the financial implications of their project before moving forward.

For Lede, the solution supports more efficient handling of connection applications while improving the quality and consistency of incoming requests.

Key benefits include:

  • Early price estimates that support better customer decision-making
  • Greater predictability around grid connection costs
  • A simple digital application process for customers
  • Improved quality and completeness of application dat
  • More efficient handling of increasing application volumes
  • A scalable foundation for future growth and electrification

As electrification continues to drive demand for new and upgraded grid connections, Lede is helping customers make informed decisions earlier in the process while creating a more efficient way to manage growing demand.

“Providing customers with cost estimates early in the application process helps reduce uncertainty and allows projects to move forward with greater confidence.”
